Fall news

I thought about something for a year….and finally decided to go for it! I'm so excited to tell you that over the past several months, I’ve been taking classes with Nicole Johnsey Burke to become a certified Gardenary Garden Consultant!

In addition to creating habitat with our “yards”, North Shore Butterfly Gardens will now be able to help you create your very own kitchen garden oasis. A complete garden package for the 21st century - ecologically minded and thoughtfully designed.

This summer I had one cherry tomato plant in a container right outside my kitchen door and I can’t tell you how much joy (and handfuls of delicious sun ripened tomatoes) it brought me. This fall I am not sitting around reading gardening books, or as most of you know, creating books in my studio…….just yet. First, I am creating MY very own kitchen garden. Take a look at Nicole’s Instagram to see why. I want that, right outside my kitchen door, and the thought of carrots pulled right out of the earth is keeping me motivated as our first frosts creep in.

Where I’m at in the process

After much consideration on light, convenience, water proximity and aesthetics I decided my kitchen garden would be right behind my butterfly garden.

Step 1 - make fence so sunlight shines through it….

Step 2 - Measure & design my space….

This will take some careful planning and thought. As a certified garden coach I am able to order the raised beds that Nicole designed right from the Gardenary catalogue! They are made ready to assemble and there are lots of options just like you see in the photos below.

Thinking this might be for you?

I am offering 5 free consults while I am still a consultant in training.

This consult includes a one hour visit in your yard or space. I't’s a time for me to hear about your garden goals and plans for your space and time for me to share what grows best each season here on the North Shore and what kind of set up would work best for your garden.

Consults will soon be $100 but I'm providing 5 complimentary consults this month and I'd love for one of those to be in your backyard.

The consults only take one hour and can be done at your convenience. If you'd like to start growing a little of your own food, just click the link below and I'll hold a spot for you. The consults are first come, first serve so be sure to grab yours first.
